Haiden Henderson has released his new EP ‘Tension’ - 8 tracks laced with desire, sultry tones and an intense honesty of reeling emotions. He brings his talent in waves of alternative pop, clear influence from the 2000’s and a pairing of his darker grunge flair. You can expect to be immersed in hypnotising beats, relatable storytelling and easily get lost in ‘Tension’.
Instantly pulling you into his world, ‘One Track Mind’ allows you to lose yourself in a combination of sultry beats, blunt lyrics, low tones and a grunge feel. Henderson’s classic spin wraps it up into a dirty pop hit that sets the tone for ‘Tension’.
‘Lovesucker’ comes next, a playful nod to a shared interest in vampires among both Henderson and the fandom. This track is laced with fitting allure and notes of obsession. A showcase of explosive, higher vocals only add to its addictive nature. A bridge of persistent bass runs parallel to a slow build in pace before treating you to a final rendition of a chorus that you’re bound to find yourself joining in with by the end.
Following are two previously released singles ‘Sweat’ and ‘Lips’. First up you’re transported to 2000’s pop, an area Henderson exceeds in. ‘Sweat’ is packed full of hypnotic beats that make this a song ready for a club, an impressive combination. ‘Lips’ is on theme, sensual, a little teasing and less than innocent lyrics that I’m sure Henderson is questioning singing live. “You said you like my lips, well do you wanna try them // you like the way they sit, well baby come and ride them.” ‘Lips’ has a baseline that instantly boosts your confidence and will clearly be a fan favourite.

Up next is ‘Sweet Tooth’ opening with lyrics that lay Henderson's feelings on full display. This takes the form of rap style verses that flow impressively. Discussing the idea of starting a relationship with someone important, with the possibility of it not progressing and the emotional repercussions.
‘AA’ is a personal favourite of mine. This track feels more stripped back with hazy instrumentals and intense opening lyrics “You’re stuck in my body, but nobody here will ever know // looking at you different now that I’ve seen what’s under your clothes”. The poignant lyrics are hard hitting combined with emotive vocals. Switching styles with a sped up tempo and a driving synth beat show an impressive talent of genre blending and dynamic song writing presenting as a club beat with rockier riffs reminiscent of bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
‘Good TV’ makes reference to an iconic movie ‘The Truman Show’. Primarily a pop hit that highlights Henderson's more vulnerable side. Layered vocals draw your attention to the lyrics that present as cathartic and reflective.
Finally, the EP goes out with a bang with title track ‘Tension’. Intricate backing instrumentals, with strategic pauses and alt rock guitar, soundtrack an experience of a relationship that can easily ruin you. The chorus is clearly direct, honest and painfully addictive. Henderson not only showcases his art through sound but through visually striking music videos. ‘Tension’ captures the push and pull of relationships, gritty, cool toned and considered. This music video is made to match the world of the project, featuring incredible choreo and moody lighting that just adds to the tone of the track.
It’s easy to see how ‘Tension’ came to be the name for this EP, all 8 tracks hinting at exactly that. Haiden Henderson clearly found his niche and has made an addictive and cohesive EP that makes it clear he went into it wanting to challenge himself. Intense, desperate, vulnerable and honest ‘Tension’ is a cohesive piece of work that you can find yourself in. Through music videos, he has taken his art to the next level creating a world for the tracks to exist within. Henderson has cemented himself as a rising pop star.
