L.S Dunes

The incredibly talented L.S Dunes made up of Tucker Rule, Frank Iero, Anthony Green, Tim Payne and Travis Stever, played to a packed crowd at the O2 Academy 2 in Birmingham on 30th January.

The show began with support from Kayleigh Goldsworthy, Dunes coming on for her final song providing instrumentals, she had a very warm welcome as the room of fans enjoyed her set.

Soon enough, L.S Dunes took to the stage with their mighty ‘Bombsquad’, energy erupting through the room, Green was centre stage, holding out his arm waving the mic as the other members played passionately.

‘Grey Veins’ had the band moving around the stage with the powerful bassline, fast thunderous drums and dynamic guitar. The energy radiated from them into the room as fans shouted the lyrics back jumping and smiling.

‘Permanent Rebellion’ saw almost every person in the venue jumping as the riff began. This was the band's first release as Green mentioned but was also clearly a fan favourite.

Frank Iero provided vocals alongside Green for ‘Past Lives’, the energy remaining just as heightened as it was at the start. Before coming back for the encore, the band took the time to thank the fans for coming out and supporting them, a nice sentimental touch to the evening.

Before the band returned to the stage, the room of fans chanted demanding ‘2 more songs’, sure enough they returned for their final two. ‘2022’ was the beginning of the encore, this kept the energy going before ‘Sleep cult’ started.

Kayleigh Goldsworthy reentered to play violin for the final song, adding a dream like feel. The complex instrumentals made this even better live and was a perfect way to end the night.

Although the band only had their album ‘Past Lives’ consisting of 11 songs to play, it was a special experience to hear live. With the blend of instruments from the skilled members and Tuckers immense live vocals the band put on an incredible show. Combining the final song with Kayleigh Goldsworthy was a treat and tuckers final message ‘stay alive’ left the audience with an inspiring ending. I look forward to whatever else they have instore.
