Maneskin
If you have never seen Maneskin play live before, I highly suggest you book a show.
Maneskin played the Lafayette in London on 22nd January for a special album launch show hosted by ‘YouTube music nights’, just two days after their album release ‘Rush’. This event was invite only including competition winners.
They opened with ‘KOOL KIDS,’ entering the stage to flashing coloured lights. Victoria De Angelis and Thomas Raggi were dressed in a coordinating style, adding to the glam rock feel of the evening. The eccentric ‘KOOL KIDS’ instantly had the audience jumping and dancing as front man Damiano David encouraged the audience to join in.
‘GOSSIP’ was next up, originally played with Tom Morello for the studio version on the album, they did an impressive job of playing this live. There was a perfect balance of instruments, the energy overtaking the room.
They had live debuts of ‘BABY SAID,’ ‘BLA BLA BLA’ and ‘TIMEZONE’ Damiano remarking that it will be a difficult tour as the new songs are difficult to sing. You would not know it considering his remarkable vocals on ‘TIMEZONE.’ ‘BLA BLA BLA’ was clearly a fan favourite, you’d think the song had been out for months judging by the reaction as everyone joined in. There was an added instrumental section Including powerful drums from Ethan Torchio.
Their Eurovision winning ‘ZITTE E BUONI’ had the members making use of the stage, swapping sides as the bridge hit. Then ‘THE LONLIEST’ played, the energy in the room decreasing as Damiano’s vocals echoed through the venue. This song was raw and emotional, a few phone lights swaying accompanying the passionate song.
The night ended with their hit ‘I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE,’ instantly bringing the energy back. Damiano even jumped into the crowd, a
camera following as he told everyone to get down. Seconds later the room of people were jumping and singing as he returned to the stage concluding the song.
The songs come to life live, the band providing an electric atmosphere that lingered long after they left the stage.
If you haven’t already, make sure to listen to their new album ‘RUSH’ and catch them on tour starting this February 2023.
